ABSORPTION METHOD
  • Put 1 1/2 - 2 cups of water to boil.
  • Stir in 1 cup rice.
  • Cover tightly, lower heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes.
  • Remove from the heat, cover and let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
RICE COOKER METHOD
  • Put 1 cup of rice into rice cooker.
  • Add 1 - 1 1/2 cups of water.
  • Convert the rice cooker and turns it on.
  • When it automatically turns off, do not lift the cover immediately. Simmer for about 10-15 minutes.
MICROWAVE METHOD
  • Put 1 cup of rice into a microwave container.
  • Add 1 1/2 cups of boiling water.
  • Covert with plastic wrap (or with cover) and cook on full power for 15 minutes.
  • Remove from microwave and let stand for 5-10 minutes before serving.
TIPS
  • The amount of water to add can vary depending on the rice. New crop rice - rice grown in the same year - is not as dry and needs less water.
  • Cooking jasmine rice in a rice cooker can be tricky. Try reducing the amount of water called for in the rice cooker's directions - even to a 1:1 ratio if necessary.
  • 1 1/2 cups jasmine rice gives about 3 1/2 cups cooked rice.
  • Cold jasmine rice is very good for making fried rice.
